Essential Functions

Job Summary

To gather and analyze data from various databases and sources, perform analytical and statistical methods, and develop reports and visual representations. To develop and/or maintain databases, provide consultation, and technical assistance. Responsible for performing data analysis using statistical techniques; researches and analyzes information using multiple databases and creates reports of data and results.

Core Responsibilities

Typical:

  • Designs, compiles, and analyzes data using analytical and statistical methods.
  • Determines data requirements, data sources, and data collection methods.
  • Provides and coordinates collection and processing of data for various types of ad-hoc reports; satisfies ad-hoc reporting/analysis requests.
  • Reviews output for consistency and quality; ensures integrity, accessibility, and accuracy of reports/dashboards and data structures.
  • Collects, analyzes, and interprets data to evaluate program activities and components for use by decision-makers in the Office of the Registrar and Strategic Enrollment.
  • Analyzes system reports to identify potentially problematic data, makes corrections, determines root causes for data problems stemming from input errors or inadequate field edits, and suggests possible solutions.
  • Writes reports to provide information, interpretations, and recommendations on programs and projects.
  • Manages, monitors, creates, modifies, and schedules enrollment and registration-related reports.
  • Supervises training of faculty and staff on the use of WEBI reports and acts as the point of contact for all new report requests.
  • Researches and stays up-to-date on emerging technologies and data analysis tools.
  • Provides technical support as well as training on new or existing techniques.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Social Science Research, Economics, Educational Administration, Business Administration, Organizational Analysis, Information Science, or other research-oriented discipline and two (2) years of working with data reporting, retrieval and analysis tools, and forecasting experience.
  • Bachelor's degree and four (4) years of related experience may substitute for a Master’s degree.
  • Strong  verbal and written communication and analytical skills.
  • Knowledge of or ability to learn how to effectively use business intelligence reporting tools and forecast modeling tools to support planning and forecast activities.
  • Intermediate in business intelligence tools.
  • Intermediate knowledge of SQL.
  • Ability to work with sensitive information and maintain the highest level of confidentiality.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Doctorate in Social Science Research, Economics, Educational Administration, Business Administration, Organizational Analysis, Information Science, or other research-oriented discipline.
  • Four (4) years of experience working with data reporting, retrieval and analysis tools, and forecasting experience in a higher education setting.
