POSITION SUMMARY:

The Director of Admissions provides strategic leadership and operational oversight of the admissions department. This role manages recruitment and administrative staff to ensure efficient processes and achievement of enrollment targets. The Director is responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive recruitment strategy to enroll qualified students for three incoming classes annually. Core responsibilities include overseeing the full admissions process, analyzing enrollment data, reporting to senior leadership, and managing the department budget in alignment with institutional goals. Additionally, the Director cultivates strong relationships with prospective students and their families, as well as external partners such as academic advisors, faculty at other institutions, and community stakeholders to support recruitment efforts and build a robust admissions pipeline.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Develop and implement strategic and comprehensive recruitment strategies to achieve enrollment objectives for multiple incoming classes annually, utilizing data analysis to inform decision-making.
  2. Manage the end-to-end admissions process, including application evaluation, decision-making, and ensuring timely communication with applicants.
  3. Lead, mentor, and evaluate admissions staff, fostering a high-performing team environment focused on continuous improvement and professional growth.
  4. Oversee the admissions department budget, ensuring efficient allocation of resources to support recruitment and admissions activities.
  5. Cultivate and maintain relationships with external stakeholders, including academic advisors, faculty at other institutions, and community organizations to enhance recruitment efforts.
  6. Work closely with departments such as Marketing & Communications, Institutional Advancement, Information Technology, and Financial Aid to align recruitment strategies and communication plans.
  7. Prepare and present regular reports on admissions metrics, trends, and outcomes to senior leadership to inform strategic planning.
  8. Leverage admissions and customer relationship management (CRM) systems to streamline processes, track applicant data, and generate reports for continuous assessment.
  9. Ensure adherence to institutional policies and federal regulations, including maintaining the confidentiality of student records in accordance with FERPA guidelines.
  10. Regularly assess and refine admissions policies and procedures to enhance efficiency, effectiveness, and alignment with institutional goals.
  11. Stay informed of emerging trends in admissions and higher education, implementing innovative approaches to enhance recruitment and enrollment outcomes.
  12. Organize and participate in recruitment events, information sessions, and campus visits to engage prospective students and promote the institution's programs.
  13. Undertake additional responsibilities as directed by Associate Vice President to support the institution's mission and objectives.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING:

  1. B.S. or B.A. degree with 3-5 years admission experience or master’s degree with student services emphasis and 3-5 years admission experience; past supervisory experience; health science-related education or Doctor of Chiropractic is preferred.
  2. Experience in interpersonal relations; clear communication skills and comfort levels to speak to and engage small and large groups.
  3. Possess organizational and time management skills; develop directives and have ability to delegate responsibilities; must understand the public relations and marketing aspects of higher educational recruitment; must pay attention to detail as well as have ability to see the big picture.
  4. Must maintain a high degree of confidentiality, integrity, and discretion.

JOB CONDITIONS:

Supervision of staff; travel; work with faculty, administration, and Board of Regents; work towards enrollment goals for each term. Standard office conditions with extensive travel.

PHYSICAL and MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:

Speaking, listening and visual acuity; ability to carry up to 25lbs; ability to work extensively on a computer or workstation; safe and defensive driving. Critical/analytical reading and thinking, strong verbal communication and writing skills, and working knowledge of basic mathematics.
