Job Summary
The Assistant Director of Regional and Transfer Recruitment is responsible for providing professional knowledge, advice and counseling skills, and high-level coordination and review of the undergraduate freshman and transfer student admissions and recruitment process. This position will manage and oversee three regional positions within the Houston, Dallas, and Longview regions. The Assistant Director of Regional and Transfer Recruitment is responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with high school partners, community colleges, school districts, and community stakeholders to promote and increase awareness of specialized transfer programs and to facilitate freshman and transfer enrollments. Participation is required in campus events such as registration, commencement, Preview Days and other special events or busy times of the year when support is needed.
Major Responsibilities/Duties/Critical Tasks
- Develops and implements strategies of the transfer admissions plan along with a comprehensive strategic plan for regional recruitment.
- Administers admissions policies and procedures for specific programs and activities.
- Counsels prospective students, parents, educational administrators and other interested persons regarding admissions requirements, policies, and procedures.
- Manages and supervises a recruitment team and their region for recruitment of prospective students inclusive of travel planning and meetings with college counselors, high school counselors, students, and other professionals.
- Schedule comprehensive short and long-term visits with primary partnership institutions including classroom visits, college fairs, UT Tyler application workshops.
- Strategic recruitment initiatives for the Dallas, Houston, and Longview market along with a Transfer marketing plan. Collaborates with University Marketing Department.
- Coordinate and communicate with key stakeholders at top and primary feeder institutions, continuing to build relationships and foster greater partnership.
- Develop follow-up Initiatives within the CRM to the entire funnel to generate leads to enrollment.
- Promotes University opportunities to prospective students by developing and delivering presentations to colleges, high schools, businesses, and organizations.
- Regularly gathers and analyzes information on application and enrollment trends to determine proper workloads.
- Provides administrative management and coordination of admissions functions and reporting.
- Reviews admissions applications and makes admissions decisions.
- Maintains an understanding of established policy, pathway agreements, articulation agreements and college course credit.
- Coordinates information sessions and event planning for admissions activities.
- Supervises the assigned student’s workers as appropriate and coordinates their daily tasks and schedules.
- Serves as the main contact for the assigned admissions process.
- Maintains a thorough understanding of the admissions process to train staff, pinpoint and resolve issues and serve as a backup for assigned supervisor.
- Establishes a high level of integrity and ethical behavior in dealing with confidential information.
- Researches and confirms applicant residency status and maintains up to date on admissions policies and procedures.
- Attends university meetings and participates in committees as needed.
- Manages the interactions between the office and outside service providers.
- May recommend policy and procedural changes to improve efficiency and effectiveness in Admissions recruitment and/or enrollment practices.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Education/Experience
- Bachelor's degree.
- Three (3) years of experience counseling students in admissions, financial aid, or in a closely related area. Supervisory experience.
- May accept a combination of education and experience.
Preferred Education/Experience
- Master's degree.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish).

Other Information
- Must have a valid Texas Driver’s License and reliable vehicle.
- Position is required to work two Saturdays per semester for Preview Day and all Commencement ceremonies as well as other weekend events as assigned.

The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length. This position has the option to elect the Optional Retirement Program (ORP) instead of TRS, subject to the position being 40 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
