SUMMARY OF JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Student Life Coordinator’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to, supporting and developing programs that contribute to a vibrant campus life. This position will develop and coordinate all student related activities and functions for Lamar Institute of Technology (LIT) with the goal of enhancing the growth and development of all students through various social, cultural, recreational, and educational opportunities. This is an exempt level position.
 
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Stay current with trends and promising practices as related to student engagement and retention.
  • Develop, organize, and implement a diversified plan of student-centric student activities that will enhance the out-of-classroom experience with emphasis on all aspects of campus life, community and student engagement, special events and other cultural, leadership, motivational, and social awareness programs.
  • Oversee events calendar and budget.
  • Advise and support Student Government Association officers. Responsible for orientation of new officers, student worker hiring procedures, and student travel.
  • Assist in coordination and support all LIT student organizations. Coordinate with faculty advisors to support all LIT student organizations.
  • Oversee Learning Lab personnel and tutors, along with services and maintenance provided by Learning Lab and tutors.
  • Assist in the day-to-day operations of the Student Services division, providing assistance to the Associate Vice President of Student Services.
  • Serve on college task forces, committees and councils as required.
  • Offer exceptional customer service in a student-centered, professional environment at all times.
  • Perform related duties as required or deemed necessary to meet the Recruitment goals within the scope of responsibility.
  • Upholds and agrees to comply with all federal, state, and local requirements pertaining to the security, confidentiality, and privacy of information maintained by institution, including the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).
  • Evenings and weekends may be required.
  • Other duties as assigned.
