JOB DESCRIPTION

 

This is a clerical position responsible for processing the essential documents for admission of undergraduate students to the University, including: applications, application fees, college transcripts, high school transcripts, test scores, and other related documents.  Responsible for processing requests for information about SFA from many different sources;  assisting in the preparation of mailings and correspondence to prospective students and applicants;   analyzing critical decisions involving eligibility for admission, transferability of academic coursework and residence status (for payment of tuition);  performing necessary functions for imaging of all documents (scanning, linking, etc.); and representing the office and university to new and prospective students.  Reports to the appropriate Admissions Coordinator.

QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or equivalent is required. 

One year of related experience is required.  General office experience in a public contact position within a data processing environment is required.  Experience in a high school or collegiate setting is preferred.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  1. Processes information and documents from prospective students and applicants to the University.
  2. Applies all pertinent admissions policies and procedures and makes decisions regarding eligibility.
  3. Evaluates course work transferred to the University from other colleges and universities.
  4. Aids in the preparation of correspondence to prospective students and applicants by mailing letters and other materials.
  5. Examines student files to determine residence status of applicants related to payment of tuition.
  6. Interacts with other on-campus departments regarding special requirements such as TSI, on-campus housing, academic advising, registration procedures, financial aid, etc.
  7. Scans electronic images into imaging database, performing verification and linking of imaged documents to the student information system.
  8. Interacts extensively with prospects and applicants requiring knowledge of customer service techniques, admission policies, registration procedures, etc.
  9. Processes application fee or appropriate fee waiver for each applicant and balances account daily.
  10. Assists in functions associated with special admission programs.
  11. Receives the receipt of payments from students and others for departmentally sponsored activities.
