Job Summary

The Assistant Director of Undergraduate Recruitment is responsible for developing the UT Tyler profile among high school students, community colleges, transfer students, staff and administration. Oversee the Admission Officers. Implement growth goals set by the Assistant Vice President of University Recruitment and Admissions. Responsible also for developing and implementing the on-campus prospective student experience. Hiring and supervising team members for the college readiness department, undergraduate recruitment and the admission representatives. Responsible for managing the recruitment efforts including the college readiness initiatives, undergraduate and transfer initiatives. The Assistant Director of Undergraduate Recruitment will work closely with the Assistant Vice President of University Recruitment and Admissions to sustain and further develop partnerships and relationships with the local ETX region and neighboring regions including collaboration with high school counselors, community college advisors, transfer coordinators, principals, and superintendents. Continue to educate and empower students to discover what’s next after high school. 

 

Major Responsibilities/Duties/Critical Tasks

  • Implement strategic recruitment efforts by territory and region including by college 
  • Manage data regarding recruitment efforts including reporting on yield and ROI 
  • Collaborate with key internal and external stakeholders to partner together for growth goals and strategic recruitment efforts and maximum healthy yield for student success and excellence 
  • Supervise the Admission Officers and all recruitment initiatives 
  • Supervise the team of student workers to reach the College Readiness initiatives. 
  • Oversees the daily work of assigned staff including but not limited to application workshops, classroom visits, admission application reading and communications 
  • Serves on committees which deal with recruitment, admission, and enrollment. 
  • Continue to sustain our partnership with over 40 schools and grow the program to include more to come. 
  • Provide training and goals for the Admission Officers and college readiness coaches. 
  • Routinely assesses and provides feedback on best practices in the field of study to provide excellent customer service. 
  • Support the Admission Officers and coaches in the schools with clear directives and objectives for every week and month they are in the schools. 
  • Set realistic goals and analyze the data and growth within each school. Develops and implements program specific student information literature relevant to college readiness. 
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Education/Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree. 
  • Three (3) years combined experience in post-secondary and/or Secondary (K-12) Admissions/Enrollment work. 
  • May accept a combination of education and experience. Must have reliable vehicle.

Preferred Education/Experience

  • Master’s degree. 
  • Bilingual English/Spanish.

  • Ability to successfully interact with students, faculty and staff. High attention to details. 
  • Excellent organization skills. Excellent leadership skills with the ability to organize teams. 
  • Highly adaptable to changing circumstances. 
  • Knowledge of polices and procures related to university admissions. 
  • Demonstrated computer literacy and use of PC’s, word processing packages, CRM and student information systems experience.

The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
